Skin Needling also is known as Micro-Needling and Needle Dermabrasion is the newest, easiest, and most effective at-home anti-aging skincare rejuvenation treatment available today! Up until recently performed primarily only in clinics and spas, Skin Needling delivers equivalent results to laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and mico-dermabrasion treatments.
While some people may be scared off by the thought of Skin Needling – These new home-use FDA approved Skin Rollers aka Derma Rollers are becoming very popular! When used as directed with gentle pressure, this revolutionary anti-aging procedure is safe, effective, easy to learn, virtually pain-free, and costs a fraction of these higher-priced treatments!
This non-invasive anti-aging skincare treatment is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT, improving the skin’s health and beauty by stimulating and replenishing the natural reproduction of collagen and elastin in record time and without damage to the skin. Noticeable results can actually be seen within one week.
What exactly is Collagen? Collagen is a fibrous protein which connects as well as supports physical tissues for example skin, bone fragments, tendons, muscle tissue, and collagenous cartilage. Collagen is usually referred to as the actual glue maintain the body with each other. Without it, the body would fall apart. Collagen works hand in hand with elastin in supporting the body’s tissues, giving the body tissues form and providing firmness and strength. While elastin gives the body tissues flexibility.

How does Skin Needling work?
Skin Needling is performed using a Skin Roller. The Skin roller gently inserts a cluster of very fine needles into the epidermis and top layer of the dermis causing multiple microscopic puncture wounds. This immediately signals the body’s own natural healing response to stimulate new collagen and elastin production. The results mimic those obtained with a laser, but without destroying the epidermis. The healing period is very rapid! The micro-punctures start healing within minutes and are closed within one hour after treatment, but the production of collagen continues up to 12 months after the procedure.
What Needle length should I use?
Dermatologists, Clinics, and Spa’s use a variety of needle lengths ranging from 0.25 mm to 3.0 mm. The cost of Skin Needling performed in a clinic generally run from $200 – $350 per session.
For At-Home use – It’s recommended to use needle lengths ranging from 0.25mm – 2mm.
Below are examples of which needle length is appropriate for the condition you wish to treat:
- 0.25mm – Increased penetration of product, overall skin color and texture, thinning hair
- 0.5mm – Increased penetration of product, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, alopecia
- 1.0mm – 1.5 mm – Deeper wrinkles, surgical/acne/chicken pox scars, hyperpigmentation, elasticity decline, stretch marks, cellulite
- 2.0mm – 3.0mm – Severely damaged skin, deep scars, and wrinkles
NOTE: Any needle lengths over 2mm should ONLY be administered by a skincare professional!
How much do Home-Use Skin Rollers cost?
NOTE: Not all Skin Rollers are the same and carry the FDA approval. It’s very important when purchasing a Skin Roller to NOT skimp and buy a “knock-off” brand! While the price may be tempting, the quality is not! A cheap imitation roller could actually tear the skin and result in scarring and skin damage! A good Skin Roller will generally run upwards of $100 +, but is worth every cent!
With all the cheap imitation Rollers on the market, I was really happy to have discovered the Leaf and Rusher Tx Roller (as seen in the picture)! The Tx Roller was developed by Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon Dr. Norman Leaf and his partner Rand Rusher, and is rated one of the best! Previously known as the Dermaroller – The Tx Roller has recently been revamped with new advanced features for improved skin beauty and health.
My Experience with the Leaf and Rusher Tx Roller …
I’ve been using the Tx Roller for about 2 months now, and the results are absolutely amazing!!! My skin tone is beautiful, my pores are considerably smaller, and my wrinkles are vanishing! I use the Tx Roller with Leaf and Rushers Active Serum which contains a special non-irritating Retinol formula and powerful antioxidants like Vitamin-C. This is their Signature product and one of my favorites! But you can use the roller with any anti-aging skin care products that stimulate collagen and elastin production. Both Retinol and Copper Peptide Serums and Creams work well to slough off and generate new tissue!
NOTE: When using Retinol products – Use only at night time as Retinol may increase sun sensitivity.
How do you use the Skin Roller?
The Skin Roller should be used at bedtime and is very easy to use! You can apply your serum or cream either before or after the treatment. Roll the Tx Roller gently across the various areas of the face (avoiding the immediate eye area) vertically, diagonally, and horizontally 4 or 5 times. There is no need to press to hard as this is not necessary for success! You will feel a prickly sensation and may experience a slight rosy glow to your skin, but this generally dissipates by the next morning.
For Best Results – Use the roller every other day or at least 2-3 times a week until your skin becomes accustomed to it. Then after the second or third week, the roller can be used daily if you think it’s necessary.
DO NOT use a Skin Roller if skin is sunburned or already damaged by injury!
How do you clean and maintain the Skin Roller?
Thoroughly clean and disinfect the actual Roller by first rinsing out it under warm water and then putting this in a glass associated with water with a clavier tablet, alcohol, or even hydrogen peroxide and permit it to air-dry on a clean hand towel. Also, be careful not to boring the needles through treating the Spinning gently and avoid putting your roller on a difficult surface. Also, be very careful not to drop it! With the proper treatment, a Skin Roller should last from 6-12 months.
NOTE: Skin Rollers are intended for individual use only! NEVER EVER share your Skin Roller!!!
